Fishing with Captain Keith Logan of Standing Down Charters out of Holden Beach, NC on a full day trip at the Horseshoe. After satisfying their catch limit of King Mackerel, 4 Mahi were boated. Finishing up the day with some bottom fishing the crew landed Black Bass, Trigger Fish, and Red Snapper. Both the King Mackerel bite along with the Mahi bite came from a South Chatham Tackle Pirate plug with a frozen cigar minnow in tow. The bottom fish bite came by means of a Bluewater Candy Roscoe Jig.

The crew fished the 15 mile area off Holden Beach landing several nice Mahi on a half day trip. This was Jake’s first adventure to the high seas for offshore fishing landing his first ever Mahi. A great time was had by all.

Fishing the 15 mile area the crew found King Mackerel, Mahi, and a Gag Grouper that hit the King Mackerel bait, a pink Pirate Plug with a frozen cigar minnow, on the downrigger 40 feet below.

 

Fishing with Captain Keith Logan and First Mate Johnny Jones of Stand ‘N Down Charters Holden Beach, NC from left to right is David Wolfe, Dick Fida, Bill Cantrell, and Ethan Sansberry all from Mint Hill, NC. While fishing offshore of the Sharkhole quite a few nice King Mackerel were caught along with a Cobia in the mid 20 pound range.  Pink Pirate plugs with frozen cigar minnows provided the best bite of the day.  In spite of the aggressive Barracuda that were patrolling the waters and devouring several fish before they could be boated, a great time was had by all.

While fishing with Captain Keith Logan and first Mate Johhn Jones of Stand ‘N Down Charters in Holden Beach NC landed several nice Spanish Mackerel in the ‘15 to ‘20 inch range off the beach on Oak Island. The Spanish Mackerel hit a 00 Clarkspoon behind a #2 planer in 27 feet of water.

The anglers caught their limit in King Mackerel along with several Mahi Mahi while trolling a frozen cigar minnow towed behind a Green Pirate Plug. Most of the fish landed were caught off the down rigger which was operating in the 40-50 foot depth range.
