About the Captain

Captain Logan is a US Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain with a 50-ton endorsement and is recognized by the International Game Fish Association as a Certified Captain. Captain Logan is a quiet and easy going captain who has fished the waters of Brunswick County, North Carolina for over 30 years. Don’t be fooled for a second by his calm demeanor for his credentials are extensive and his knowledge vast when it comes to both inshore and offshore fishing. His most recent accomplishment includes the first place win of the Capt. Brant’s 2008 Jolly Mon King Mackerel Tournament out of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Captain Logan, a native of Brunswick County learned to fish at a ripening young age by accompanying his father Cecil Logan to the offshore waters of Holden Beach. Captain Logan knows where the fish are and is committed to aiding each and every angler aboard his charter to create memories that will last a life time.

Should you want to chase the big game and experience the drag screaming as the line burns off a 130 wide with a 350 pound giant Bluefin Tuna on the other end, Captain Logan can get the job done for he has landed more than his share of Bluefin Tuna over the years. Whatever species of saltwater game fish you choose to target Captain Logan has the knowledge and ability to put you on the fish and send you away at the days end with a full cooler of fish and a smile on your face.

“The Origin of the Name”

With the exception of a few, many may wonder where the vessels name, Stand N’ Down II originated from. Standing Down Charters owner Layne Flowe came up with the name following a conversation he and his brother Sonny had. W.S. Flowe Sr. known to all as “Sonny” is a Vietnam veteran who served as squad leader in the US Army with the 25th Infantry from 1969-1971. As Sonny recounted a story of being in the field for 30 days at a time he spoke of a 48-72 hour period at the end of the 30 days known to all the troops as “standing down”. During this time the squad was removed from the field and flown back to the rear to take a shower, change clothes, relax, eat a good steak, and enjoy plenty of cold beer. No matter how bad the war these young soldiers were facing was, right there at that base camp….for just a few hours everything was good in their world. Thank you to those who have fought for and continue to fight for our great country. May God Bless America!!!

Thank you Sonny for helping me achieve a lifelong dream and for believing in me and standing behind me and being a best friend and brother, and most importantly a Dad.

Whether you’re fishing or catching…….if you’re on the water doing something you love …..You’re always “Stand N’ Down”.
